Divas

These women began life as influencers, but over time they've become something much more personal.

I've always been fascinated by the way we present ourselves. We pretend appearances don't matter, yet we read them constantly. We notice what people wear, how they carry themselves and the choices they make. We make assumptions about people, just as they make assumptions about us.

The paintings reflect some of the pressures placed on women today:  to be endlessly polished, perfected and visible. These women have morphed into something else over time and I now see them as symbols of individuality, courage, confidence and playfulness.  In many ways, they became my deities.

These paintings are a reminder that we should trust our own eye, to embrace our individuality and have the confidence to create a life that is unmistakably our own.
